In the grand and arrogant tradition of social media, Twitter--the 140-characters-or-less online ADD outlet--has aired its ambitions for a Nobel Peace Prize. Bush-era national security advisor Mark Pfeifle opines on Twitter's role in the Iranian election: "Without Twitter, the world might have known little more than a losing candidate accusing the powers that be of alleged fraud. Without Twitter, the people of Iran would not have felt empowered and confident to stand up for freedom and democracy." Without Twitter... one can only imagine.

Nancy Reagan continually trumpeted her husband's credentials for the Nobel Peace Prize, also. Didn't make it happen, though.
