Can't this go in the existing thread -- especially since it won the Darwinian battle with five other threads?

I was already pretty bummed out. But now I learn that John Hughes was a Republican?

Aw, man.

His portrayal of the carnage that modern business travel wreaks in men's lives in Planes, Trains and Automobiles was by far the best evisceration of what deregulation has wrought.

Buh? I thought Stein was pro-free market and whatnot.

And The Breakfast Club was the perfect illustration of states' rights. And Weird Science shows the danger of untempered-by-laws-and-Jesus Science. And Mr. Mom shows the damage caused when God-ordained gender roles are upset. Pretty in Pink? Well, you know.

Ben Stein's a retard ignoramus asshole Republican, through and through.

R.I.P., Mr. Hughes. Thanks for the laughs.
