Loose cannon or symptom of deeper problems with the Obama administration?

Rahm Emanuel's latest gaffe points to larger issues. In an unguarded moment, Emanuel had referred to a group of liberal Democrats as "retarded."
One congressional Democratic official who was not authorized to speak publicly on the subject said that Emanuel's House pedigree created a "blind side" for him. "When he weighed in, it was with a House mentality," the official said. "It was, 'cut a deal,' or 'push something through.' "
After a full year in office, Obama has no healthcare win to speak of.
A White House official who was also not authorized to speak publicly on the topic responded Thursday, making no apologies for Emanuel's tough style. "If the allegation is Rahm is trying to get healthcare done, that's true and remains true. He's trying to get it done," the official said.
When reports of the remark began circulating, the former Chicago congressman -- already famous for his foxhole profanity -- moved to express his regret and promised to help leaders of the disabled community sensitize the public on the issue.
Although that may have tamped down the immediate problem, the larger questions remained.

Rahm Emanuel is a great is example of "Failing upwards" Screw something up but making the right connections to climb higher. He was totally against Howard Dean's "50 state strategy" which is how we ended up with senators from places like Alaska and Montana.
More worrisome is his what he's doing to cover up for the bush administration and pushing back against the kind of rule of law stuff that Holder is advocating.

Emanuel viewed many of the legal problems that Craig and Holder were immersed in as distractions. “When Guantánamo walked in the door, Rahm walked out,” the informed source said. Holder and Emanuel had been collegial since their Clinton Administration days. Holder’s wife, Sharon Malone, an obstetrician, had delivered one of Emanuel’s children. But Emanuel adamantly opposed a number of Holder’s decisions, including one that widened the scope of a special counsel who had begun investigating the C.I.A.’s interrogation program.posted by delmoi at 8:02 PM on February 8, 2010
Shouldn't you be using quotes or at least italics around the direct language taken from the article? I'm not sure what the conventions on that are around here, but your last two paragraphs are not yours.
You are quite wrong. Not one word in the FPP is mine. You're welcome.

After a full year in office, Obama has no healthcare win to speak of
After eight full years, his predecessor hadn't gotten this far. I'm tired of these idiotic metrics—as though this is on Obama and not the entire government. As though you can simply shove anything as monumental as health care reform policy through four caucuses. As though he's had every hour of every day since taking office to work on just this problem.
Yes yes, OBAMA has no "WIN" like he's a fucking CEO in a fucking product strategy meeting. Okay, then. Let's keep repeating it so eventually it sounds as stupid as it is and we can stop repeating it.

Obviously, were it not for Emanuel and his salty language, the Republicans would have fallen in line for all of Obama's proposals and the obstructionism would never have gotten so bad. Or so we're supposed to believe from the concern trolling article.
