Where was this Laura when we needed her?

Laura Bush on Gay Marriage and Abortion I can understand the need to keep political views private when you are the fist spouse - but first Barbara and now Laura Bush come out as pro choice (and in Laura's case) pro gay marriage. It feels a little like a cop out of the worst kind - and could have put alot of bipartisanship to rest over some really important issues.
