The Last Novelist

David Markson, author of acclaimed avant garde novels such as Wittgenstein's Mistress and This is Not a Novel, has died.

Markson had a fascinating life and bibliography. David Foster Wallace called Wittgenstein's Mistress "pretty much the high point of experimental fiction in this country." Writer Evan Lavender-Smith called Markson's Author books (Vanishing Point, The Last Novel, etc.) "porn for English majors." Ed Champion has a lovely remembrance and links to several others. So far, no media outlets have published obituaries.
