If you like Star Wars and Calvin and Hobbes, you'll love this shirt. If you don't like Star Wars and Calvin and Hobbes, seek therapy immediately.

I dunno, given the great lengths Bill Watterson went to trying to prevent Calvin and Hobbes products from making it to market, I find it kind of difficult to love this. Clever, certainly, but really, it just makes me flash back to the pain I felt 15 years ago when I learned the strip was going to end, and regret that my C+H books are all back at home.

I wonder if this is gonna fall under the "Yell At People Who Sell Calvin and Hobbes Stuff" rule or the "Enjoy Pop Culture Mashups" rule.

This is more the kind of thing that you should post to your Facebook page than to Metafilter.

That drawing is just like Calvin and Hobbes, only without the craft.

I'm not going to lie, that's a cool shirt.

That's adorable, but I don't know that it's really a great post for the blue.

Yeah, it's a great shirt, but it's not strong enough to carry an FPP by itself. I mean, people complain about SLYTs, but this is even less. It's basically a single-link picture (that happens to be for sale on a shirt).

Parody of Waterson is fine. On something like this it isn't about what the original artist thinks. I find this an acceptable use of the commons.

This isn't parody, it's borrowed interest.

Awkward that they use Calvin & Hobbes, really a fairly poor drawing all things considered, but most of all: GYOFB.

I'm not saying it's dubiously ethical or legal, I just don't love it, for the aforementioned reasons.

Also Lucasfilm probably would take more legal umbrage with this shirt than Watterson would, given which set of characters are actually being traded on, as opposed to styles being parodied, but I'm not an IP lawyer nor do I care to play one on the internet so whatever.

I like Calvin and Hobbes and am ambivalent about Star Wars, but this is the sort of shit-on-your-face sentiment that makes me want to hate them both with a passion.

I'm being totally sincere when I say that I'd like to know what this means.

Is there a rule about Enjoy Pop Culture Mashups? Is that sort of like Enjoy Prepared Food? You do or you don't, people, figure it out!
