The Sound and the Fury

Sarah Palin: The Sound and the Fury: Even as Sarah Palin’s public voice grows louder, she has become increasingly secretive, walling herself off from old friends and associates, and attempting to enforce silence from those around her. Following the former Alaska governor’s road show, the author delves into the surreal new world Palin now inhabits—a place of fear, anger, and illusion, which has swallowed up the engaging, small-town hockey mom and her family—and the sadness she has left in her wake.

Sarah Palin is such a throwback to the Reagan days. She's an actress at a crossroads, like the beaten, bloody Rocky Balboa in Rocky IV, exiling herself to the woods to train like a monk for two years, chopping wood and shooting bears, only coming out at the end to vanquish her foes as the American flag waves up above and Survivor and James Brown are playing in the background.
All she needs is a training montage and some acting lessons, and her Presidential campaign is ready to go.

MetaFilter: a sad and moldering strangeness lies beneath (not really, but I really like that line)
And the article also had a section titled Fist of the North Star. I just skimmed, but I didn't see where she "[dedicated her] life to fight against the various ravagers who threaten the lives of the weak and innocent, as well as other rival martial artists, including [her] own "brothers" from the same clan."

"Former Alaska governor Sarah Palin issued a new attack on the media yesterday in the wake of lengthy and critical profiles published in Vanity Fair and New York magazine. 'Impotent, limp and gutless reporters take anonymous sources and cite them as being factual references,' she said. 'It just slays me because it’s so absolutely clear what the state of yellow journalism is today.'" *posted by ericb at 2:05 PM on September 3, 2010
Also, I'm tempted to try that credit card on a website, while at the public library. But I don't think I'll get very far with it.

I'm not sure adding the blurb from the top of the article makes this post any better than the first attempt.

Eh, Palin is right that this thing is poorly sourced. Frankly, it reads like a gossip column.

I read this the first time it was on Mefi, but I really think it's incomplete without reading the link above referenced by ericb. I had no idea the writer actually went into this wanting to put her in a good light.

But, did anyone else notice the credit card? 666! It's all right there! She's the false prophet! The antichrist has come!
*ahem*
Sorry bout that. I just feel that the world should know that evil walks among us, and apparently it carries a Visa card.

Is it poorly sourced when there is a situation where the sources don't want to give their identities out of fear of retaliation? I think that comes down to trusting the reporter and the publisher. The reporter appears to be sincere in trying to make this a truthful account, and Vanity Fair isn't exactly the National Enquirer.
