In which a father-son team sends an iphone capturing HD video to the stratosphere in a weather balloon, then recover it on landing. Not safe for the motion-sickness prone.
A very similar project was undertaken by MIT students a few years ago, who have a website where you can learn to build your own for $150. (Previously)

Where does it say that the images were TAKEN with an iPhone? He shows the "camera" and then says the iPhone is to provide it with GPS so it can be located- isn't that what we're seeing?

I suppose you're right, ethnomethodologist. I had thought that since they probably wanted to keep the weight down, and the iphone takes video, they would have used it for both. But since they still have a GPS signal to find it with once it lands, but the camera is out of power, it has to be a separate camera.

Never mind that, they use a PNG image for text on the website! WTH?!
And they put the video camera in a take out food container? Barbarians.

You want to do WHAT with my iPhone? I mean, father/son time is great and all, but can't we just throw a ball around or something?
