100 Incredibly Useful YouTube Channels for Teachers includes some great choices, among them are also many generally likable ones like the CIA (not that one, The Culinary Institute of America) l Words of the World l NPR Radio Pictures l The Metropolitan Museum of Art l PBS.
Yeah... would be nice if my district didn't block Youtube from the network, like every other district in my area.
Teachertube is a good alternative, though.

I don't understand the beginning: YouTube has earned a reputation for featuring brain cell-slaughtering fare such as the truly abysmal Fred and playing host to the some of the most depressingly stupid comments this side of Yahoo! News.
Who is Fred?
Maybe I should look at these YouTube videos more often.

This is why I live and die by my FireFox video-scraper plug-in, and why I taught many teachers this year at my new school how to use it.

School Districts like mine block the YouTube site. So you don't get a chance to view the video or even get to the site to scrape. Evom will let you paste in a url if you know it without going to YT.

Judson: I scrape the video at home and bring it to school. Not rocket science.

Fred is interesting: many people (myself included) find his videos incredibly annoying, but at the same time he's one of the most popular YouTube stars. He even has his own movie! Lucas is a nice guy in person and I'm happy for his success, but I can't watch his videos :)
Going to have to show these to my (recently retired teacher) mom, who doesnt really get YouTube.
