That is a list of commercial airline bombings. Is there some context that moves this from moderately interesting trivia to Metafilter post?

I also have a somewhat morbid fascination with aircraft disasters, but maybe a little context or something would be useful here.

For example: It seems we've had an exceptional twenty-year run, minus a few incidents. The last incident involving a flight to or from the US on this list is Pan Am 103 in 1988. Which might be something to consider when deciding whether the current precautions (dumping bottled water, "gate rape," etc) are really necessary.

*That they know about* What about all the flights that just went missing. Vanished without a trace? Aliens? I don't think so. People from the future harvesting genetic material? Yeah right. What about the bombs when they claimed "a few birds flew into the engine" Hmm? what about those? That's a short list there bucko!

One of the bombings was allegedly committed by Gomez. So far Morticia is not a suspect in any bombings.
