The A.V. Club sits down with W. Earle Brown -- Deadwood's Dan Dority -- in a fascinating and far-ranging interview about his experiences on the show, and what could have been.
It says that his performance as Meat Loaf lives on in YouTube but I can't find any clips.
I would like to see such clips.

This is going to make me sad all over again about Deadwood being canceled isn't it? Fuck, I was just getting over that.

AVC: Is this the movie where you smoked pot with Woody Harrelson? This is why I love the AV Club random roles so fucking much. They really do their research and it shows.
WEB: [Pauses.] Where did you hear that? Did I tell you that?
AVC: You talked about it in a Deadwood fan-forum Q&A several years ago.
WEB: [Laughs.] Oh, man. Well… Yeah, it was.

A sure sign that Deadwood has been off the air for too long is when it takes almost a full hour for that comment to get posted.

Is there a German compound word for being unable to read a phrase without hearing it in your head as the actor said it?
"Good news, everyone!"
"San Francisco Cocksucker!"

Also, I was trying to resist buying the complete Deadwood blu-ray set, but this may have pushed me over the edge. Thanks a fuckin' lot, you hooplehead.

You know, I sort of snicker at people who still hold a candle for the tv show Serenity. I mean, it was a good enough show, I guess, but years after it had been cancelled, they still seem to think it's possible that they'll get the gang back together. I just realized that I sort of feel the same way about Deadwood. For years since the show was on, I'd be watching some other drama on TV and I'd ask my wife, "where the hell have I see this actor before?" and she learned after awhile that the answer was always "Deadwood."

Yeah, we were offered two movies or six episodes to wrap it up. But I don’t want to mess with what we’ve already created by this truncated timeline. Fuck it, it’s over. It’s cancelled. And Jerry Cantrell, Lemmy Kilmister, Scott Ian, and 2/3 of ZZ Top are in the background during the eyeball fight.

So I tell anybody if you ever encounter [Steve Earle], call him "Hooplehead Steve the Horse-Fucker."
I am absolutely going to do that. Right before Steve Earle has me killed.

The SO and I just finished season 3 last night, so this was really fun to read. I've spent most of today scouring the internet for behind the scenes clips and other interviews just trying to prolong my Deadwood experience.
Oh, and if you're a Deadwood fan and haven't seen Winter's Bone, you're missing out on a Sol Star and Mr. W/Jack McCall reunion.
