a bright sunny day
(perhaps too bright)
above, a V of geese
turning, heedless,
but still beautiful

a continent's distance
another sunlit day
dimmed by clouds
that will bring no rain
but tears

As far as I know I haven't lost anyone known to me personally in this tragedy but that in no way lessens the horror and sadness I feel at the unfathomable amount of lives lost and shattered yesterday.

America is more powerful than terror's evil. America will survive, and thrive.

I don't cry, but I am moved to sadness by these attacks, that which were not on freedom, not on honor, but on life itself.

What the world needs now is a little love.

Every person under that rubble, and in those planes was someone's mom, dad, brother, sister, husband, wife, son or daughter... May God bless and keep you all.

My little sister was less than a mile away from the WTC when both attacks occured. She's safe. But the amount of pain and anger that exploded in me at 9am yesterday because this caused even the slightest worry to cross her mind must be utterly trivial compared to how anyone who lost a loved one must feel. Compared to how anyone whose loved one was hurt must feel. Here in Houston, so far removed and still so ignorant, I bled as well. And I hope my blood helps.

May you all be filled with loving kindness, may you all be well. May you all be peaceful and at ease, may you all be happy.

"DEATH is nothing at all. I have only slipped away into the next room. I am I, and you are you. Whatever we were to each other, that we still are. Call me by my old familiar name, speak to me in the easy way which you always used. Put no difference in your tone, wear no forced air of solemnity or sorrow. Laugh as we always laughed at the little jokes we enjoyed together. Let my name be ever the household word that it always was, let it be spoken without effect, without the trace of a shadow on it. Life means all that it ever meant. It is the same as it ever was; there is unbroken continuity. Why should I be out of mind because I am out of sight? I am waiting for you, for an interval, somewhere very near, just round the corner. All is well"

I come to the Goddess with a wish for peace. Have mercy on your children, and gather them to you in love. Hear my request, Mother of All.

My deepest sympathies for those who have lost loved ones, and to those still waiting for word.

Longfellow is never out of season:

"And in despair I bow'd my head:
"There is no peace on earth," I said,
"For hate is strong, and mocks the song
Of peace on earth, good will to men."

Then pealed the bells more loud and deep:
"God is not dead, nor doth He sleep;
The wrong shall fail, the right prevail,
With peace on earth, good will to men."

'Til ringing, singing on its way,
The world revolved from night to day,
A voice, a chime, a chant sublime,
Of peace on earth, good will to men!"

Tennyson has lines that always make me hopeful in dark times:

"Tho' much is taken, much abides; and tho'
We are not now that strength which in old days
Moved earth and heaven, that which we are, we are,--
One equal temper of heroic hearts,
Made weak by time and fate, but strong in will
To strive, to seek, to find, and not to yield."

My only sister works in Manhattan.

Those who have been affected must feel millions of times worse than I did when I first heard the news (she's fine, though).

My thoughts and sympathies to everyone.

I know that I do not have anyone that was in the blast but I am really sad over the lost. But, also we should not go for reveng but go for the ones who really did this. It will not show respect to the dead if we kill more people who did not do anything.
