Lego isn't just for geeks anymore. The latest video directed by Michel Gondry for the White Stripes melds lego with rock in a wonderful way that just has to be seen.

Very good vid for a very good song. I like the way it's vague enough for you to not know what's happening if you're not totally focused on the thing.

Hmm... I dunno, the Strokes have 5 members. The White Stripes is just a pair. That's over twice as much rockin'. You'd have to listen to two White Stripes albums to compete with Is This It, which is easy, because there are three White Stripes albums! I guess that means the White Stripes are less dense rockin', but more rockin' total, unless it matters that the drummer's a chick, but we haven't done that in class yet.

The White Stripes are okay; The Strokes are disappointing (if you've seen 'em live, you'll understand); There are many many more much better bands in the world that you'll never hear of because they don't have enough cash; The NME has a habit of hyping up bands more than they deserve (duh).

That video is awesome, though. And Meg White gets my vote for "cutest woman in rock."

I heard a sundance review of Human Nature from a friend and all I can say is that I'm totally surprised to hear the movie fell flat. Perhaps hollywood screwed with the script, but it sounded like an incredibly dumb plot.

Human Nature: of course, there's a rich tradition of music video/commercial directors' first features failing. Often they are unable to direct actors, or they can't handle pacing over such a long stretch. At least they tend to be beautiful failures (i.e. Hype Williams' Belly - but not to imply Mr. Williams was ever on par with Mr. Gondry here).

Yet the Human Nature teaser is pretty funny... (QT; although the site seems to be down now)

I'm excited about Human Nature, but I like outrageous plots (like Malkovich). It beats Pearl Harbor. I read some praise for it here and here.
