"Beige. I think I'll paint the universe beige." Remember those arguments we had about the exact shade of turquoise the universe was supposed to be? Umm, computer glitch, sorry. "Fairchild realized the software Glazebrook was using actually took a slightly pinky looking colour as white. 'There was a huge green shift due to the erroneous white point,' he says."

I love the fact that the linked article includes swatches of the new and old colors of the universe. The beige is actually more of a cream color that, painted on a ceiling, would probably make a room look bigger. Maybe that's why the common wisdom has the universe expanding.

Man! When The Gap said, "Everyone in Khakis!" They REALLY meant EVERYONE.

Wow! I guess you must watch that gay guy's Home Show to have picked up that useful decorating tidbit.

Universal Beige is the new black...

I think this is the death-knell for the iMac. Basic beige computers aren't boring, they're going with the grain of the universe.

When the original turquoise color was announced, I wondered how the universe could be so dramatically blue-shifted, on average, with all the red and yellow stars around. Not that intuition plays much of a role in the hard sciences these days, when all the easy discoveries have been made.
