Tomorrow night - Sopranos Finale

Tomorrow night - Sopranos Finale - Will Jackie Jr. get a pass? Will Paulie or Christopher get whacked? Where the Hell did that Russian go? Will we ever see Gloria again? I don't often get wrapped up in a TV series, but damn, I am hooked into this one.
I know the answer to at least one of your questions (oooh, and it's such a good answer!), but I'm sure you don't really want to know until you see the show.

I don't want to know what you know, but I'd like to know how you know it. You got a source? Or do you just know how many episodes Annabella Sciorra was contracted for? (I know I read that somewhere not long ago.)
Personally, I'm hoping none of them dies. We're all expecting someone to be offed, so to have it not happen would be the best trick of all for them to play.

Comments aboot tv suck. Buy a friggin tv guide or poeple, but leave me out of it. like there's not enough pablum on MeFi to filter lately.

Salon had an interesting piece on the show. Pointed out the wonderful use of music. The calim made that not as successful as The Godfather series but amazingly good sort of melodrama in which Tony is battered about by the various women in his life but keeps his cool and remains attractive to them all. What bothers me about the Times article: can't people use VCRs to tape and then, home from the restaurants, see theshow? Or must the see it "live"?

HBO subscription?!? FORGET-ABOUT-IT !!, I'll just wait for the DVD's, Having to subscribe to HBO 1, 2, and 3 just for the One hour a week worth a damn is simply not good business..

Well, my two cents: I think they have been building up a kind of resentment towards Tony in some of the other characters lately: Ralphie definetly has reservations about Tony, and looks like Chris might now, too. Somewhere in the back of my mind I suspect a power struggle. And what happened to the Russian guy? That could spell trouble, too.
As far as why it seems to be such a magnetic show: it's not really like anything else on TV. It's got a cast of well acted characters who really develop over time and a storyline that doesn't insult the intelligence. Plus, no commecials, it's kind of like watching a real long movie one hour at a time. Plus, its kind of no nonsense, very honest, and dynamic; there's always at least two good storylines going on, and they sometimes take more than a week to get resolved. Perfect for roping in the viewers.

As far as I recall, here in the UK the Soprano's first few slots were immediately after the weekly Ally McBeal slot. After an hour of hilarity and innuendo, the last thing I wanted to watch was something about a rough drama about a bunch of Italian gangsters. So, I never watched it. Just very bad timing on their part. I hear it's good though.

Now that that's out of the way... ;) -- Any other MeFi folks find themselves unbelievably drawn into this storyline? I find myself thinking about it way too much, and wondering why it has such impact. The writing, the characters, the actors, all so spot-on. Should I feel like an idiot if I find myself identifying with Tony, or just grateful to the fine work of those who put the show together.
