what gets me is that clubs are now in the same classification as crack-houses.

I would say this is the stupidest thing the gov't has done to battle drugs, but I'm sure they will do something stupider next week.

Hey! I know! Since those damn druggie kids like to dance all night long, let's make dancing illegal in this county, too! Yeah!

Problems: solved.

I think the last quote from this article sums up just how wrong the government is going about this:

Chasing things underground is never a good idea -- although society thinks they benefit in the short term, they will end up paying for it in the long term.

in the right context, glowsticks could be construed as burglary tools.

Dude, you mean you guys have never snorted glowstick juice? Man, you don't know what you're missing!

PSA for Jackass viewers: Please don't snort glowstick juice. If you do, please don't sue Matt Haughey. Thanks.

This makes me utterly sick. My god.

Talk about a step back for our culture and faith in government.... Jesus.

I once went to alot of raves. I also went to alot of concerts. Drugs at both. So how come lighters weren't made illegal? Or mullets?

Excuse me while I move to a less totalitarian European country.

Good point, mullets should be illegal. Hahaha...

OMG...what utter crap

only in america would the federal government waste so much time and energy on this. i used to go to to raves pretty regularly and even promoted a smaller one.

this stuff really scares the hell out of me. at my party we knew there would be people on various substances but we did all that we could to let discourage it (ie security, printed warning about drug use on our fliers, etc). to think that i could have been arrested for planning a night of nice visuals and good music is just idiotic.

it makes me sick that the government is trying to squash an entire scene for nothing more than a political agenda. that and well...i'm also pissed that they closed down Twilo. i'd always wanted to visit that club but never managed to make it before it was shut down.

Better yet, make teenagers illegal.

I don't know about y'all, but if I can't have my chemlights, then I'm swearing off drugs completely. Thanks Uncle Sam for putting me back on the straight and narrow . . .

On the other hand, no one has bashed SUV's in this thread yet.

I see "Vicks VapoRub and dust masks" are also considered drug paraphernalia.

That is so 1990.

By the way, the Brunet case has been settled. I can't find a link anywhere, but I'm almost positive that I read it in the Times-Picayune (N.O. Paper) less than a month ago.

I seem to remember that the Brunets got probation in turn for not holding any more raves at the State Palace theatre...

excuse my ignorance but, why would someone use vics or a dustmask? I'm showing my lack of hipness here but don't understand why you would need either of those to party.

Partyers rub the Vicks under their noses for an additional buzz; the pacifiers are used to stop tripping dancers from grinding their teeth or simply as a fashion accessory; dust masks are for fashion, to enhance the effects of the Vicks -- and sometimes just to keep dance-floor dust out of their system.

It's amazing what you can find when you actually read what's in the posted link. ;-)

I think that part about the dance-floor dust is B.S., though.
