Verizon Wireless is jumping on the copyright lawsuit bandwagon. This time they're picking on 2600. Me thinks they're playing with fire.

lol, wonderful! That's the funniest thing I've heard all day! 2600 isn't the world's coolest magazine, but I think they do great anti-corporate abuse stuff, DeCSS dissemination, etc..
Really, these companies do not have as much power as they think. Besides, as was mentioned below on the Mattl.com domain discussion, they could never get all the -related domains.

BTW: Verizon *does* really suck.

They are, however, also the cheapest in the market, which is why I've put up with it for 5 years.

Wasn't it nice of the nasty lawyer to include thier fax number on their letter....

As an amusing aside, verizonsucks.cc is still open. Enic.com lets you do a fuzzy search for "related" names
here . Funny some of the suggestions it made:
cadaver.cc
deceiver.cc
calfsliver.cc
contriver.cc

Since I always jump on bandwagons like this (conform! conform!) I registered bitemeverizon.com (hey, $15 bucks to stick it to the man. I've done my good deed for the day) but came up with several other (fairly stupid) ideas for verizon domains:

verizonlawyersaresissies.com
verizondidnastythingstoyourmomlastnight.com
verizon-onepeopleoneworldonetelephonecompany.com (I couldn't remember the German phrasing- "ein volk, ein verden, ein Fuhrer" was the best I could remember)
verizon-ifyoudon'tplayourwaywe'lltellonyou.com iwouldntpissonverizonifitwereonfire.com
verizonwouldntknowtrademarklawifitsmackedthemintheass.com
verizon-we'rejustinitforthelove.com
verizonexecsdoquestionableactswithbarnyardanimals.com

I believe the German phrase annathea is referring to is "Ein Volk, ein Reich, ein Fuehrer.." as said by Adolf Hitler. It basically means "one people, one realm/empire, one leader".

As a side note: In verifying this quote, I also found it frequently accompanied by this one: "One World, one Web, one Program" - Microsoft promotional ad (circa
1995). ;)

I remember laughing when I heard Ralph Nader propose new domain endings of .sucks for protest sites.

But after seeing stuff like this, it wasn't such a bad idea after all...
