SPOON! I'm not sure how I feel about a live action Tick, but I suppose if you're going to do it, you could do worse than to cast Patrick Warburton as the Nigh-Invulnerable Blue Guy...

aw man, casting "David Puddy" is f-ing brilliant. If anyone can be The Tick, it's him.

Who is going to be the Tick's sidekick?

I couldn't find any indication about the rest of the cast. I guess the first hurdle was casting The Tick himself... You don't want to end up with an Arthur that appears 7ft tall when they're together. Shooting is scheduled for April, though, so expect to see casting info soon.

When AICN first announced the plans for a live-action TICK, their usually-toxic (to me) TalkBack became a forum for some entertaining Fantasy Casting for the show. Their first choice for BigBlue was... Patrick Warburton! You don't think anybody actually reads that stuff, do you?

BTW, first choice for sidekick Arthur was Conan-sidekick Andy Richter, with runners-up Rick Moranis, Dave Foley, Mickey Dolenz (he did the voice in the toon) and the not-bloody-likely Jason Alexander.
Second choice for the Tick was Bruce Campbell (who's got his own show on now... somewhere), who ended up overwhelmingly picked for Die Fledermaus. This is idle speculation at its best.

That same sort of speculation went on over at alt.tv.the-tick, but my "Get a Life" alarm was ringing, so I cut out. Considering the fact that Andy is leaving Conan, that's not an impossible casting possibility... There's a funny mock up of Warburton as the Tick at comics2film. I'd like to see Bruce Campbell involved. I don't think his current project will keep him busy for long.

Yeah, I blogged about Jack of All Trades recently. It's only so-so, but I have to say, it's better than all the shows that surround it, if only for the Campbell-Raimi influence.

I think Warburton is a far better choice for the Tick, actually. Pretending for the moment that neither Warburton nor Campbell have much range, I think the former is more up for goofy sincerity, while the latter is better suited for the quippy macho types we know him for.

I also pull for casting choices most likely to give my favorite actors work, and quite frankly, what else is Warburton gonna do?

Is anyone else learning Puddy's real name for the first time, finally?
