Chemical Rubber Company steals MathWorld Copyright 1) Math teacher publishes web site
2) Publishing company copy/paste the web site on dead tree
3) Lwasuit against the Math teacher for making an illicit copy of the book (no, not the other way 'round)

You also left out the part where Eric signed a contract that gave the copyright to the publisher. Yes, CRC's actions are mind-boggling, but they could (as Eric readily admits) have been easily avoided if he talked with his own lawyer about what the contract meant before he signed it.

Couldn't agree more with dchase. As Eric himself recommends: Never sign a contract until you feel that you understand and agree with, or at least accept, every clause in it. He didn't.
