The mystery of the missing manuscripts

Reads like an Arsène Lupin mystery. Lupin in English, and here and here, plus more French.

But the movie version will change the ending so that instead of sending the guy to jail they make him the curator of the library.
That's the least they could do after he rescued the people at the abbey from an Islamist bomb attempt and fell in love with the troubled French orphan on the cusp of womanhood they adopted as a child to get away from her abusive father, who collaborated with the terrorists to get revenge.

The guy will also have to dangle from the ceiling to break in, so he can avoid the floor sensors. And it will be really tense, because he'll almost drop something or fall. And then he'll go shopping and there will be a bagette sticking six inches out of the grocery sack.

'Name of the Rose' meets 'Hudson Hawk'
"The guy will also have to dangle from the ceiling to break in, so he can avoid the floor sensors."
If the place had a decent security (which this place appears not to have) then a ceiling sensor would also have to be overcome. Floor sensors are primarly microwave and can have seismic detection, Doppler would cover the ceiling well enough.
great story, great post.

Great story (and five years doesn’t seem too bad) and thanks, Mo — I’d never read any of the Lupin stories.

Thoroughly enjoyed this link, thanks Todd. Can't wait to see the movie version to find out which of you is right, I hope its Stevis.
