Area 51, truth seekers 0. Bush reissues order keeping Nevada site secret. I can't believe he had time to think about this with all the other shit he's stirring so hard.

Here's a link on Bob Lazar, the person who 'told all' about Area 51. Kinda nut or big nut? You decide. My tinfoil hat is chafing my scalp...

Maybe dubbya is an alien. That would explain a whole lot.

So. A secret military research site is still secret.

Mmm, pancakes!

Um. Did you really expect Bush to fully disclose Area51? If Clinton had done the same thing, would you have made a snarky remark about that?

Makes sense in a way: Area 51/Groom Lake has surpassed Cheyenne Mountain and the Pentagon as far as being the most talked about military installation in the public eye.

By maintaining a sense of secrecy, the site can be kept on the military's payroll and not end up on an "abandoned structures website" or otherwise become a tourist attraction like the Greenbrier Hotel.

Given our current political climate, however, the Bush administration would preceive such actions as a humiliating blow to national security. And who knows - maybe the military felt the need to reuse the site as a fuel depot.

So "Area" is winning, I guess.

Hell, he'd make McDonald's NTK if he could.

AFAIK, the Greenbrier shelter wasn't a military site and was administered by FEMA. (I believe they also run Mount Weather and a slew of other continuity-of-government sites in and around DC)

And ya gotta keep Area 51 secret; isn't that the "secure undisclosed location" where Cheney is?

Then, in 1995, President Bill Clinton raised the stakes by issuing an order clamping down on discussion or release of any information whatsoever.

I would have never known that fact. Thanks for solving part of the mystery for me puddsharp. I wondered why about this time there was so much publicity of Area 51. I blamed the X files.
