Even Presidents need to apologize from time to time. Other lesser politicians and business people need to learn the fine art of apology as well. There are sorry poems [warning: bad midi music]. And of course, for those who can’t think of anything to say, there’s an apology generator

Oops. Sorry.
Just sorry? You should be very very sorry.

What do you mean, "even Presidents"? It also seems only fitting that Bill Clinton is a better at apologizing than Bush I. Let's not forget that it was a dem. President, Franklin Delano Roosevelt, who sent almost 120,000 Japanese Americans to internment camps.

111, you are very, very, very sorry.
And I mean that in the worst possible sense of the word.

It makes the few thousand or so muslims that Bush has sent to camps or jailed without trial, legal representation or even being charged look like a small crime indeed. Wait, no it doesn't.

I wonder how flattered the Japanese would be by that comparison.

Um, 111, Clinton is no more responsible for the Japenese internment camps than Bush. And since I'm not one to see the world entirely in shades of democrat and republican, I think the difference in apology style have to do with personality. Or perhaps with the personality of their respective letter writers.

Maybe Clinton was a sorrier president than Bush I.

clinton used to piss me off when he was in office. but if I met him on the street in nyc now, I would buy that man a beer (and truly, I am not one for wasting the precious beer). talk about your way-way-way-lesser of two evils.

Or perhaps one of them, deep in his own conscience, had more to apologize for. You know how guilt is an overriding feeling.

What's my point again? And, since we're at it, what was your point when you posted the FPP? And as to "trolling", how would you define quonsar's and homunculus' comments?

My point was that you are a fuckwad uptight conservative dingleberry, and that "smart"quotes are the work of the devil.
I don't define the other two posts, they were obviously meant as humor.
And you are a troll.

Dear Groovin' Chick,
I humbly ask for your forgiveness for neglecting to be sensitive to your mood. I was helping Dave and YoKen,
and thought it would take care of itself.
So I'm obsessing over it, hoping you don't make me wear The Outfit. Please, let's withhold judgment.
Don't you think you're overreacting?
Love,

homunculus is a troll? Now I've heard it all. To my eyes, there is no better contributor of links (be they often political) to MeFi (and WarFi) than homunculus, and I'd be willing to bet that some other folk see it that way, too.

Hmm, perhaps you should both drop it? It takes two to troll in any case. One to fan the flame and the other to get steamed up about it.
Rise above it, you'll feel better about yourselves in the morning.

Ok, I'll take back fuckwad, uptight, and conservative. But I'm sticking with dingleberry.
Get it? Sticking with . . . oh never mind.
Dear, Snuggems,
I have no excuse for neglecting to wear matching socks. I was apoplectic,
and thought you were taking care of it.
So I'm considering my fate, hoping you don't tell your mom about this. Please accept my apology.
Go have a beer and relax.
