Somehow this clip should have had a Monster-Truck style voiceover saying "aaaand he's OK folks!"

Um, was this real? That last shot of a man carrying the "bear" can't be real as that bear would weigh hundreds of pounds.

I know I shouldn't laugh, but... I keep hearing a *boooiiiinnng* sound in my head when it hits the trampoline and a *thud* when it hits the ground.

Silly old bear. At least he's OK.

orange swan: it sure looked real to me. And the bear wasn't that big - maybe 100 lbs or so, if that. He wasn't as big as the guy carrying him, or so it appeared to me.

I don't understand how anyone could think that was a good idea. -- err.... the trampoline, that is.

Groggy bear falls and flops? That wouldn't happen to be a Chicago Bear, would it?

They said he was fine, but I'll bet that some animal control guy has a new rug in front of his fireplace.

Ah. So that's what a bear market looks like... or wuzzat a bull market? Which one is the one that goes down and then up and then down?

It's not so bad: that's how my folks used to get me out of the tree when I was a kid. Except they just threw rocks at me instead of using a tranquilizer. And there was no trampoline. And it wasn't my folks, exactly -- just some neighborhood kids.

Good times -- good times.

He's not a fully grown black bear, obviously.

females max weight: ~155
fully grown males weight: ~285

"Officials said the bear is fine and will be released into the wild in the morning."

That's a lucky bear. These were unlucky bears.

A bear market goes from high to low, because a bear attacks by standing up and coming down on you. A bull tears their horns from low to high. High to low to mid high to way low... I dunno, hari kari?

who's the rocket scientist who decided to use a trampoline?

an off duty Lockheed Martin engineer?

I'm glad the bear is OK. I thought the landing on his head couldn't be good. He'll have some story to tell his bear buddies in the woods about his trip into town.

Actually, the bear weighed about 520 lbs. We here in Montana are just a whole lot stronger than the rest of you.

(Didn't anybody read the article? It says right there that the bear weighed about 150 lbs.)

I'm sure all of you anti-trampoline folks would have just been ecstatic if they just let the bear hit the ground.

Yeah, sometimes we get a bit desperate for entertainment here in The Big Sky State...

Yeah, I know - we're officially "The Treasure State," but trust me: Our sky IS bigger than yours.

Yes, even yours, Texas.

He he. I love this story - I lived in Missoula for awhile (some years ago), and was back for a visit just this summer. Bears seem kinda exotic (here in NYC), but they were always wandering into the outskirts of Missoula. Black bears really aren't even that big.

One of the best parts of Missoula is that it is the home of the Big Sky Brewery. Maker of the infamous Moose Drool Ale. Yummy.

"The world record weight for an American black bear is 880 pounds. This was the recorded weight of a 10.75 year-old male bear shot in North Carolina in November 1998."

Must have been feeding on golfers to get that big.....
