Give a gnome a home!

Unloved Garden Gnomes. "A French police station has been stuck with a room of homeless garden gnomes, victims of a wave of gnome abductions, after a fresh bid to trace their owners failed." And I had never even heard of the 'Garden Gnome Liberation Front'.
My friends kidnapped a gnome in the late 80s and took it on a road trip with them, returning the gnome w/ photos when they got back.
I'm not sure that there's was the original 'gnome kidnapping' but I've seen this prank repeated and reported on numerous times in the years since. Kidnapping gnomes - not that original.

We used to take those stupid metallic balls that are on a concrete pillar and switch them with other houses. So when the owner of a blue ball (heh) woke up in the morning, their ball would be red instead.

Ever noticed how it's the smallest lawns that have the most tacky crap on them? There's a house down the street from my parents' place that has, among many other lawn ornaments, those cut-out gardeners - a little old lady bending over with her slip showing and a little old guy bending over with his hand reaching out towards her butt.
As a teenager my friends and I used to plot that we would steal them some night and sink them in the river.
