Go Fly a Kite!

Wonderful post! It's amazing how everything flattens to one plane when the horizon isn't included.

I'm reminded of a fellow I knew in Florida who did aerial photography from a powered parachute. One of my faves from his were these dogs on the beach. Unfortunately I can't find his site.

I did find this one though, where it may be buried.

Kite photographs seem to make a good web show, recurring and growing, from one year ago, and three.

Dammit. And one of them was Matt's too. (But how come searching for "kite aerial photography" since day one turns up this thread but not his? Oh well.)

Kiting is a newer obsession of mine and I've been itching to try KAP since I first heard about it a few years ago... I just have a hard time a.) coming up with the funding and b.) dangling an expensive camera and gear a hundred feet off the ground and letting it get buffeted around by wind.

I think it's fine to post new sites, and even just new URLs, for this stuff, rory. It's a cool subgenre that gets more attention on the web than it would in any other way. I'll save my crankiness for when someone links to the USA Today article about the new book of Kite Photographs.

My brother is into photography and also kites. I wonder if he does this? I shall have to tuck it away as a potential conversation topic during one of those long awkward pauses will be sure to occur during Christmas vacation.

Back in the day some had to make due with super 8mm cameras and model rockets.

[Excellent post] Pretty photos and a very strong "because it's cool" factor.

The model rocket camera in gluechunk's post is very interesting. Space pictures man, like from space.
