Looking to recreate the dark, smoky arcades of your misspent youth? Got the MAME cabinet in your rec room but still missing something? Arcade ambience supplies the soundtrack to your MAME cabinet with two super-long MP3'd mixes of vintage arcade noises. Authentic, right down to the sound of the coin changers and background hum. Sticky floor, shouted pizza to go orders, and smell of ozone and unwashed nerds not included.
About eight minutes into the 1981 mix (which is where I am), when Centipede knocks in, is GREAT!
And i like early on with the Galaga intro. This is really well constructed, and, heh, amazingly not as irritating as I expected it might be. He does a good job of making it non-repetitive and introducing different themes at about the right moment your ears need them.
Looking forward to getting to 1983 ..thanks for the link

wow! Take that Mr. Eno! Reminds me of QuietAmerican's one-minute vacations (only much longer and nostalgic). Thanks for the link, 40 Watt.

wokka wokka wokka!
now, if only they can somehow recreate a psychotic skinhead wielding a flick knife in order to persuade me to vacate the Robotron cabinet, then the recreation of my childhood arcade experience will be complete!

I think I hear Gorf taunting the space cadet in the background of 1981. Why do I feel like I am back at the Silver Nugget in Pensacola?
I just know 1983 is going to give me that sick feeling in my stomach like I really need to ask Tracie to couple skate.

Good thing these were created, as video arcades are now all but vanquished from society. I guess we can thank the PC and home console market for that.
Remember when video games used to be a social activity?
