Background noise for your cellphone

SounderCover Are you the type who likes to call in sick to work... from the beach? This might just be for you. Seems like phonecams aren't the only cellphone app that raises some issues. (via cacheop)

10 years ago a friend sent me a radio guide from Tokyo. There were a fair few channels devoted to "sounds of a pachinko parlour" and "sounds of traffic", which were presumably there to provide errant spouses with similar cover when calling home.

Can you imagine how nutty it would make someone who didn't know that this existed,
if you always had a circus parade in the background no matter when they spoke to you?

Perhaps a cruel person would use this cellphone app as a way to "gaslight" someone into suspecting they have synaesthesia? "What do you mean you hear a pachinko parlor every time you talk to me? I'm at home. Are you feeling OK?"
