Depressing Times we live in.

This is a very depressing time to exist, it seems. Watching the country you love (or hate) slowly disintegrate makes me wonder about how it all felt before.

These times are quite different from the Great Depression. One of our biggest problems, as noted here before, is that we eat too much and don't exercise enough.

I would say these are frustrating times for many of us. Even for many conservatives, seeing the current administration bloat the size of government is frustrating. We're spending billions on a unnecessary war while many needs go unmet domestically. A few people are profiting at the expense of many. Ben and J-Lo broke up.

I've been reading up on WW2 as a new year's resolution. Let me say that no matter how bad things are now, they aren't that bad.

What economic trouble? Nothing to see here...move along.

how morbid... go for a walk and get some air, things aren't that bad

slowly disintegrate

I notice you didn't supply any links supporting that characterization. Just because things are happening that you don't agree with, or even because objectively bad things are happening, does not mean that the United States is "slowly disintegrating." This country has survived a civil and numerous world wars, several presidential assassinations, a great depression (and countless recessions), two impeachments and a presidential resignation, etc., etc., etc.

psychotic, maybe a little marching this weekend will cheer you up? or at least show you that it's not hopeless?

more generally, take action! vote! protest! write letters to the editor! volunteer at a campaign (or homeless shelter or soup kitchen)!....Don't just wallow--do something!

The country (of your choice) has been going to Hell in a handbasket for as long as I've been alive and, according to my grandfather, as long as he's been alive. Back before then things were probably fine.

Same as it ever was.

But now we have the technology to wallow in it ... and plenty of 'security' to keep us worried.

Oh, cool--mazel tov! Do it for the kid-to-be--make this a better world for him/her/it (the rest of us are trying, too, and maybe it'll happen, although it's baby steps all the time.) : >

This is one among FIVE, I believe, anti-Bush administration posts here TODAY.

I'm certainly glad they're not religious fundamentalists, or they would be really, really annoying and boring. And totally unable to see what miserable creatures they look like to the "unbelievers."

This is one among FIVE, I believe, anti-Bush administration posts here TODAY.

Get used to it, it's going to be this way for the next 8 months and only get more shrill towards the end.

It's funny that it might be the rhetoric and anger that will keep the anti-bush folks from getting what they want. I am a Republican who is very concerned with how things are going and may well support Kerry, but the more insane conspiracy theories and angst the left throws up the more they remind me that they may not be a choice I can live with.

This is a good time for Kerry and friends to run a decent, moderate campaing and leave any frothing at the lips to the Bush camp.

i didn't see the post as anti-Bush. it's mostly a collection of economic links.

Don't you all wish for the halcyon days of 1968, back when life was simple and all was well in the world? I understand that 1932, 1864 and 1942 were also pretty lovely times, too.

laugh...

not exactly anti-bush. I'm also a Republican who may support Kerry. Didn't mean it to be anti any party, just anti where the country seems to be headed--and I think we can all agree that both parties, and most people in this country are at fault for that (including myself).

And I do feel better this morning... my wife is back in town--what a difference that makes!
