"Rudi Pecker assumes position in top slot in Asia."

"After 14 years inside Misys in Europe,"

I have only one thing to say :

Good, but not quite up to the "Rosie O'Donell Marries, Slams Bush" that was widely spread.

I laughed quietly, inside.

There's an engine mechanics workshop here in Adelaide (Port Rd if you're in the area), with an infamous sign out the front.

My favorite is still the ubiquitous if fictitious headline on a story about a mental patient who escaped from an asylum after sexually assaulting two workers in the laundry: "Nut Screws Washers and Bolts."

My favorite was one a high school english teacher swore to me appeared in the New York Times around the time of Warren Burger's confirmation hearings (sorry, no sexual innuendo):
"Congress Grills Burger with Relish"
I think maybe he was joking...

Pecker's breadth of experience, with over 20 years in the financial services industry, will enable him to rise to the challenges of growing the business in Asia, a region fertile for expansion.

Someone's got to be taking the mickey, surely? Unless I'm just seeing innuendoes everywhere for some reason...

All troutfishing's picture needs is cartoon bubbles over each guy saying "shawaaaaaaaang"

I will pay upwards of $50 for a good pecker-head job.

Eekacat - The great thing is : they didn't have a clue! The pic was from, a German site about a Dachshund competion. That German guy's just so damn proud of his weiner-dog, he's got to put it on display! (The other guy? well......)

People love those Dachshunds and mini-Dachshunds, and sometimes, owner and weiner look striking similar

Reklaw, same here.

Rudi Pecker assumes position in top slot in Asia.

Even that little "send to a friend" icon has me snickering, after the rest of the article. ;)

There are four English-language dailys in Tokyo; the senior staff are all Japanese, and most of the writers are native-English speakers. I think it was the Daily Yomiuri's headline editor who was constantly slipping stuff past his bosses. In an article about a new electronic passport-checking machine or something from Kinki Nippon Electronics (Kinki being the name of the region around Osaka), the headline was Kinki Device Eases Entry.

There was a headline back when Tommy Thompson was governor of Wisconsin that ran after a particularly amusing use of WI's wide-ranging line-item-veto power. It was supposed to be making the usual comparison between pens and swords, but two words ran together so it ended up reading

THOMPSON'S PENIS A SWORD

There was a good one on ZDNet recently: "Canon shoots at Chinese pirates".

The Rosie headline, and my vote for the best combination of headline and graphic .

(The last one's a little subtle, and yes, yes I have kept that screenshot for almost four years)

Now wait, in Norton's screengrab, the headline isn't nearly as funny as Ufez Jones reported. In fact, it looks completely fine in the screenshot, unless I am missing the joke entirely...

Now that I think of it, the pun was on "Bush" rather than on "weds [and] slams," eh?

Doubtless apocryphal, but I remember a story about a very unfortunate space inserted in the first word of the headline COCKBURNS OFF ON WEDDING TRIP.
