Meet Anton Chekov - The famous Russian playwright is now appearing at your local Barnes & Noble.
OK, but I think mr Chekov should help independent bookstores instead of shilling for B&N. maybe he just likes their stainless steel thermal samovars, who knows
thanks for the link, anyway

A slogan was created, "Libraries = Napster for Books". WAP would do for books what Metallica did for music.

Reminds me... I used to know a guy named Crad Kilodney. He would stand on the street selling his books. He often had a hidden mic on him and recorded his days on the street. There are some wonderful gems of him soliciting passers-by with, "Hi, I'm Margaret Atwood, famous Canadian author," and on more than one occasion he roped people into conversations convincing them that MA was his psuedonym.

After reading "Surprise" and (erm) "Bingo" I like these guys even better. Some of their stunts are just designed to make people feel good. The look on the faces of some of those people on the subway who are pleasantly surprised to find themselves in the middle of a party...it's just really sweet. It's like they're coming up with little anecdotes that they wish they could have happen to them, and then making them happen to other people.
