IN AEDIBVS ALDI: The legacy of Aldus Manutius and his press.
Fascinating stuff, hama7! It's easy to say, now that we have had mass-produced books for a hundred years or so, that people like Manutius were pursuing an inevitable path; but back then, this was bleeding edge stuff, and I don't think they really knew where they were going. They were true pioneers.

This is what I like. If I could view these books page by page, in high resolution, on the net... my day would be ruined.

I've been lusting after an Aldine edition for years; I'll probably never be able to own one, but looking at things like his Sophocles certainly whets my appetite. What is this thing they call "progress"? You keep your e-books; I'll take an incunabulum, thanks.
