iPod casings au-go-go

iPod Casings Au-go-go Have you seen the
iPod socks?
Even cuter: the iPod
cozies. They just announced this
iGrab casing which looks cool in an Arne Jacobson kinda way.
If you live the life aquatic there’s a casing that allows an iPod mini to
completely submerge underwater.
I’m an old school
pink bubblegum iSkin kinda guy.
Finally, if casings aren't your deal there’s the
solar powered iPod battery back up. If I could just get on the L.A. freeway with one. Please post other fun iPod goodies.
$30 for six socks? Pleeeeeeeeeeease, Apple.

I have an iPod, and I don't have any sort of case or anything on it- what is the point? (other than to look cute, which I'll admit is tempting) I've dropped mine on the sidewalk, and it takes a licking and keeps on ticking- I don't think the cases are as necessary are some make them out to be- they're just fun.

My favorite iPod accessory is...oh, wait, these are a lot better. $100, runs on batteries (no battery death), and it plays MP3s and WMAs off of CDs you burn. You can even load playlists of files in .m3u format. I've had mine for 2+ years and I'll buy another as soon as I need to.

iPodFilter: I'm not buying a set of goddamn socks for 30 bucks. However, I am a geek, so I will print out a cool iPod Tattoo of my own flavoring.

baphomet... it looks to me like you have battery death with that thing about every 15 hours of use instead of every 2 years like with an iPod. Have you got a solar version or is there something I'm missing?
Squeak, thanks for the link. That case is a great idea!

Buying an iPod does not make you a geek, just like buying a Hummer does not make you a Man. It makes you a god-damned consumer.

Alls I know is that I can't excercise properly until I have an ipod. I feel incomplete in the gym. Until the day I am a whole person, my body shall want for physical activity.

We're at the tipping point where NOT having an iPod is cool and rebel and all that. Same goes with cellphones. I'm so hip!

Can they make a casing that looks like a bulls-eye? It makes it easier to aim my .357 magnum.

No, I've got battery replacement, not battery death. I can replace my batteries and the thing keeps working. I understand that on many iPods your battery dies and you've got a $350 paperweight. I'm not sure how many hours I get out of a set of batteries but with moderate usage I'm on my second set for this semester.

Fifteen minutes ago I applied the Crayola skin from SkinIt. I like it, but I'm not sure it was worth the $10, especially know that I know about those HP printable tattoos.

baphomet,
The iPod battery is replaceable for around $30 from several vendors. See iPodBattery and iPodResQ. It is apparently a little bit tricky to crack the case, but definitely worthwhile. So no, the iPod does not become a paperweight once the battery's capacity dwindles.
At over 50x the capacity, and considerably less bulk than a clumsy CD MP3 player, I'll take the iPod.
