Good, American food for good Americans (or not)

The 20 X 20 Expedition is an experiment in photo format showing you what's great about ordering a 20 patty cheeseburger (with 20 pieces of cheese) at The In and Out Burger.
Not exaclty pleasant (so you were warned). Bon appetit!
Heh... I did a search for "burger."
My first post and I fuck it up.
Sorry, folks...
Sent to me by a guy who knows him...
I thought I had something special.
Stupid internets.

I don't understand what is interesting about someone making a slob out of themselves.

I went to school in LA last year (before transferring to a school in NYC), and one of the few things I really miss is In-and-Out Burger. For a very reasonable price (about $3), you get a really good hamburger and freshly cut french fries (you can see them slicing the potatoes as you order). I have also heard that they are very good to their employees. On one hand, I wish they would expand outside of the Southwest, but on the other hand, it makes it more special that you can only get it in certain parts of the country. Reminds me of what a treat it was to eat at Pizzeria Uno in Chicago before they franchised it all over the US.

America may be a country full of obese people, but at least some of them are entertainingly obese.
Also, there is a bible verse printed on the obverse of every In n Out drink cup, fry boat, and burger wrapper.

I think, Steve, the fact that they document it so well.
That and the fact that this is an exceptionally grandiose attempt at slobbery.

E_B_A, "burger" was precisely the same search term i used, but you had to use the 'search from day one' option, since this was first posted on Metafilter in 2003.

Oh... again... sorry... I read the posting guidelines and all that.
I hope people can cut me a little slack.
I've been an avid reader of mefi for years (for whatever that's worth).

read the comments...on the one hand, you sort of agree with 'em...but on the other, they're really freaking hateful.

E_B_A, I also doubleposted my first FPP. People were nice about it, but it stung, man... Hey, at least it wasn't a political dupe - you would have been really roasted for that!

It would only have been truly great if, after he ate them, his torso took on the exact shape of a 20 burger stack.
In the future, poetry will be made by all -- indeed.

Is it bad that I feel like both throwing up and ordering burgers? Is this the feeling that drives America to Wendy's?

In Canada we have to drive to Wendy's on our own. Something to consider, eh?

banishedimmortal: Are you still in NYC? Because you should really try Blue 9 Burgers, on Third Ave, between 12th and 3th. Apparently, they do a pretty good burger that is somewhat similar to In-And-Out.
Those are some good burgers, dude.

Sorry, gluttony doesn't impress me. I have a friend here - which impresses me. Sorry it doesn't make for an exciting post though.
I missed this the first time around, thanks for posting it.

E_B_A, if it's any consolation, you at least got the quantity of food right. The first poster referred to it as a 16-patty burger (probably because the receipt lists 16 extra patties and cheese slices -- but that's in addition to the 4x4 a few items down).
I'm not sure I could eat 20 slices of cheese, let alone having to eat a hamburger with each slice.

Did anyone notice on the receipt that the price for his 20x20 (with small coke)(and 7.75% tax!) came out to $20.20? Freaky huh?

Wow. I will never get the images of that sandwich out of my mind.
And, in some sick twist of fate, the song on the radio right now has sucking/slurping sounds in it.
I'd have to say the handful of cheese is my favorite.
At least he skipped the tomato; vegetables are gross.
