Hey, the Cat Power joke, at least, was pretty good. Not in the least just for the mention, I guess.

Because this post sucks either way?

GNR joke: it's because Axl Rose's new GNR has been "about to have an album ready" for years, but it never gets released.

I think it's funny. GG Allin especially. I remember leaving a message on his answering maching when I was an undregrad, blazed on a booze binge. "GG, this is XXXX. Call me back or I'm going to kill all my friends." And I laughed hysterically. Of course he had no idea who I was, nor was I about to kill my friends. But I had his number, so why not.
I liked the Christina one too, oddly. And SNOOP!

I thought the Snoop one was lame and stupid really. I liked the Christina but then again, I like non-fiction so that's probably why.
They didn't have the Ashlee Simpson model though. Not that anyone should have the Ashlee Simpson model. And I'm not sure which iPod this one is but I don't think I want it.
Or the God 'Pod (which I particularly think is funny).
Is there some unknown new MeFi rule that we have to have a new iPod thread every day? Or is it just this week?

iPod will only play files Apple wants you to play too. And when Apple changes their mind, you're going to follow suit.

I was guessing there was a bug in the iPod file system and I couldn't figure out which power of two in which units (2^25 seconds before the current date/time?) was the likely explanation for the overflow error causing the 14-year-bug and so what I'm trying to get at here is that I'm glad I followed the link first. Sort of.

1. Ahh, GG Allin, I miss him.
2. Sadly, I think most people go to see Chan Marshall live for basically the same reason they used to go see Wesley Willis: let's go watch the freak on stage! What a horrible scene to participate in. Street cred note: I first saw Catpower 11 years ago, she was apologizing back then too.

The Cat Power one pretty much describes my experience at one of her shows last year. Still worth the money, though.

I've seen Catpower twice. The first time she played a lovely show to a very respectful audience.
The second time she kept forgetting the words to her songs, people started talking and stopped paying attention, and then she walked off the stage apologizing.

I liked the one about Metallica. "Couples' therapy"?
I think this is a reference to the recent documentary about Metallica. A little too subtle a joke, maybe?

And shouldn't the Christina ipod really be the Paris Hilton ipod? That seems more appropriate. : )

GG Allin is comedy gold. The documentary about him (Hated) is one of the funniest music films since This Is Spinal Tap.

I can tell you this about Maroon 5 - as a live band, they are the real deal. Saw them at Viper Room a few years back, before they had any fame outside LA. When they got up on stage, I thought "Oh, great. Here's another pile of trust-fund prettyboys with fancy gear that Daddy bought them come to stink up the place with utter musical lameness." (There's a fair bit of that in LA.)
Boy, was I wrong!!
They were farkin' great. Sharp, tight, excellent players, totally kickass and full of soul. Their album does not do their sound justice, they were much, much, much better and heavier, more powerful live. They did different tunes than are on that CD, more funky and soulful.
Too bad they're so "replaceable" as they are marketed, I think they deserve better.
