Notice how all the Canadian Lakes just end at the US border. I just think that Canadian Lakes are very formal, nice, but formal.

For the US, you may also want to check out the National Map Viewer, part of the USGS's National Map program.

The forest fire map is missing the Okanagan/Caribou fires from a year and a half ago. Those were incredible fires. Brutal.

The online Perry Casteñada Library Map Collection is another super excellent map resource. Not only do they have the usual political stuff, they put up special highlights to match current events. Right now, for example, there are Iraq maps and tsunami related maps.
