Kazaa meets Bittorrent

Not bitching at you noisia; I've been looking forward to this... except that specific to OS X their FAQ reads:
13. Do the developers have plans for a Mac OSX or Linux version of eXeem™?
We will start working on a Linux version after the first non beta release of eXeem™ for Windows.
Doesn't sound good for OS X, huh?
On preview: Spyware? What the fuck is up with that? That's a record sell out, isn't it?

The lite version is not functional for non-beta testers. The ./ link mentions that the author of the lite eXeem expects to release a spyware-free version within the next few days.

is spybot different than ad-aware?
on preview, just x out the beta key entry box, it works. the networks dont seem to have a lot of stuff on them right now though

What format should the XX-out be? I've tried a bunch, but it's not working for me.

Spybot is much faster but has a somewhat smaller database (though not entirely a subset of Ad-Aware's). It's always best to use both.

Never mind. ;) Just CLOSE the beta-key entry box. ;)

Don't expect me to defend this program. The spyware pisses me off, but spybot blocks and removes it. The search features are lousy. The file selection is weak for now (no season 2 arrested development? worthless). It might be useful when trackers go down (#bt at efnet, for example) but at the moment it's kind of lame.

if the gits-that-be can close down bittorrent (which it's unlikely that they can, for now) then something like this will no doubt take its place. but for now, eh.

I think Kenosis sounds more promising - or at least less proprietary/spyware-ridden.

Isn't it obnoxious how P2P file sharing and spyware go hand in hand? No particular surprise, I guess, down in the shadowy grey depths. (BTW, "spyware" is a misnomer; most of this stuff does things much more hostile than just spy on your usage.)

For grins I thought I'd try and run in on my Powerbook in Virtual PC. No dice. Application installs, but when I try and fire it up nothing happens. Oh well. I guess I'll have to wait for the Mac version. Fortunately there are still trackers out there for those w/o Windows.

Glad this was posted here, mainly because otherwise I would have trusted the "eXeem™ contains NO SPYWARE." lie from their front page. BAH.
Oh well. A lite version out already? That has got to be the fastest stripping of spyware from a P2P application ever.
