Errol Morris : respected filmmaker, editorialist, grump, and creator of some great commercials [QT]. The Sharp series is noteworthy for him straying from his usual non-fiction work. His site is chock full of interesting stuff for a Saturday surf.

His Miller High Life commercials are tops, too. And I'm still hoping that some day Vernon, Florida and Gates of Heaven make it to DVD.

I really enjoyed "The Fog of War" also. Another 2 favorites of mine are "Gates of Heaven" (which is about the pet cemetary industry) and Vernon Florida. Wish those 2 would be released on DVD.

His interview on self deception at the Museum of Modern Art is, for me, what really sets him apart from almost all other filmmakers out there.

I'm taking a class on Errol Morris right now, actually. So far we've studied Gates of Heaven, Vernon Florida, and, yesterday, The Thin Blue Line.
Prior to taking the class, I'd only seen Fog of War, and my respect for the man's grown exponentially. And the Philip Glass scores certainly don't hurt.

The Miller commericals are classic Boston, all the more gritty for the fact that many of them seem to be shot on Super-8 and 16mm. The "pagers" ad features a great exterior shot of Twin Donuts, one of Boston's finest, most photogenic (and most unsung) dining spots.
