Alan Macfarlane is a historian cum anthropologist. You can find some of his writings and videos on witchcraft, on the family and on English individualism on the site. There is also a collection of video-interviews with anthropologists such as Frith, Geerz, and Richards. In fact, there is so much to read and hear that you won't miss your television.
(second correction: Geertz, not Geerz)
Oh, man, you have just made my day. I'll have to watch the videos when I'm home, but...*drool*. This is an amazing resource--thank you!

Systems of Ritual and Belief, a "digital-radio anthropology course".
Sorry about Geertz - I'm half asleep after treading in Miller's footsteps last night.

These interviews are neat. I only wish he had a few more anthropologists (Paul Rabinow, Claude Levi-Strauss, etc.).

Thanks so much for this. I read The Origins of English Individualism a couple of years ago, and it struck me as beyond dodgy as history, but this is a fantastic resource. Macfarlane at least asks interesting questions, even if his interpretations are somewhat wild.
