I know that some of you are familiar with the sculptor Charlie White, but how about Patricia Piccinini's equally disturbing work? (via BoingBoing)

Love both of them...
For those interested in the like, make sure and check out Evan Penny as well (his "motion blur" sculptures are rpetty mind-blowing).

I'd seen the first picture link before on another forum with a requisite WTF? tag, but never made the Charlie White connection.

A creepy, unsettling image in which your mind whispers to you "this might not be real", but your eyes yell to you "yes yes it is, believe in the creepiness". I should have known.

Also the Interpol - Evil music video is genius as well.

Those are certainly provocative. They make me think of Matthew Barney for some reason.
If you folks like Patricia Piccinini's work, I'm making some images of my fiance's work available here. Her forms are much more abstract and organ-looking. They're made out of blown glass, latex, paint, and human hair with some other fabrics or material thrown in.

In this vein, albeit slightly subtler, I've long been a fan of Cathy de Monchaux's sculpture. Pity there are few good pics online. They're mostly made of leather and metal, and combine gigeresque erotomechanics with arts & crafts symmetry and beauty.

I've long been a fan of her work - The Young Family and Game Boy Advanced / Game Boys Advanced in particular.

Extremely thought-provoking, and very spooky, in real life...

sigh.
Brian Crockett, Julian Laverdiere, all those yale guys Mathew Barney too... this work is really dull.

And people confuse intrigued-by/like with something akin to their perception of quality. I don't mean to rant, but the fact that a piece is likable has little if anything to do with it's value.

Also, this seems very late-ninetees to me.
