Least Wanted

Least Wanted is a great collection of old mugshots on Flickr. There are some great ones -- I like the Sixties 'do and Anna's pout best of all.
Excellent, I dig this. that guy actually sort of looks like a young Brando. The set of transvestites is pretty nifty, too.

There are few things more telling than smiling happily in a mug shot.
There seems to be some kind of rule that all the women must have bad hair for their mug shots.
There were so many kids' mug shots.

Why do I think this guy was busted for being a suspected commie agitator?

Look at the air of defiance on this guy's face (the bottom one). So cinematographique! Rockabilly rebel. That's how I'd want to look if I was arrested. And had a thin moustache. And was a man. Nevermind.
Great hair, too.
Is it legal, for old mugshots to circulate like this? How does it happen? The police keep them as souvenir then sell them on ebay?

Wow. I was not expecting how absolutely cool this would be. I want them all, somehow, maybe pinned up on the wall in my room.
Better yet, I want to figure out how to Photoshop pictures of myself until they match.

I wondered that myself, funambulist. But then The Smoking Gun publishes mug shots without any legal ramifications so perhaps they qualify as public record.

They're all in the Fresno Tranies folder, tell me that's not a band name? What's really interesting about that bunch is that they aren't the drag queens or hooker tranies of our modern times, these ladies don't want to be divas, they want to be plain jane. They just want to be ordinary women. I think these types of transsexuals must be rare in this day and age of American Idol.
Of course they might have just been trying to get away with something, I'm just judging based on my own prejudices and perceptions.

They're not transsexuals (necessarily). They're transvestites, I think. And most of the transvestites I see these days look quite a bit like them (although not as pretty). I'm not sure where the transvestites = drag queens equation comes from.
