"Tell me, where do all these uncontrollable blacks come from?"
In 2004, neo-Nazis killed 44 people across Russia -- more than double the previous year. A grim storm gathering.

Cyclical or not, it's scary stuff all the same. 60 years isn't that long of a time for family memories to have faded from the damage of the German seiges. Youth undoing the work of the elders, again.

Fascists? in Russia? What a bizzarre unpredictable turn of events!
What's scary is teh nukes. I wouldn't want to see any of these idiot chimpfuckers gain power and try to end the world over the amount of melanin people happen to have in their skin.

I don't mean to take away from the horror of what is happening there, in terms of murders and beatings, but I was wondering what would happen when one of the Russian neo-Nazis reads deeper into Nazi propaganda, and finds out that they, as Slavs, were considered inferior to pure "Aryans". Racism emerging in a troubled country with a shaky economy is regrettable, but understandable. The explicit embracing of a philosophy that denegrates your own people just seems...pathetic.

Just to keep anyone from getting confused, the Russians don't use "black" the way we do. Any visibly non-European people, notably those from the Caucasus, get called chornye (blacks).

In Chile we have bunch of quite clearly non-Aryan "neo-nazis", who, if they understood their own philosophy would be obligated to kill themselves in order to purify the race.
Morons are everywhere, it seems.

I believe it was hereabouts (near San Diego) that a young Native American neo-nazi shot up his school. I think naziism is portrayed as such an evil that young people want to take it up instead of satanism, regardless of whether they understand it or not.

Well, not exactly as apposed to satanism, I'm just saying satanism is something a lot of young people get into in order to go against their parents and society.

Scary that Nazi philosophies are finding purchase in a place where the Nazis killed so many. Scary and sad. Are we condemned to keep repeating our mistakes until we get them right? Like a global Groundhog Day?

"Youth undoing the work of the elders."
Unless you see the work of the elders as pushing foreigners out of your country.
Out of curiosity, do they point to any other provocation (real or imagined, theoretically justifiable or not) other than non-Russian-ness? Anything like this?

Thanks for posting this, I had no idea the situation was so bad. The statistics are scary.
Also, what's your point, telstar?

With the exception of the irony of "nazism" in Russia, this is not a surprise. Racially motivated oppression, murder, and persecution is rife through out the world. Here in the west with all our hand wringing over what bad people we are is the only place where this sort of thing is commonly thought of as "wrong" amongst the majority of people.
the more I prefer the company of my cats.
Truly cats are better at being cats than the average human is at being human. As is the case for most animals.
However I would dare say though if they COULD your cats would eviscerate you and play with your entrails until they tired of your screaming and snapped your neck. Just saying.

If we all looked alike, this wouldnt be so much of a problem. I say we speed up the homogenization of earth's population by interbreeding more aggressively. Hello ladies.

Xenophobia leading to repression and death-dealing are nothing new and, despite the shallow usian view, were not invented by the nazis.

US has what I call passive racism. I remember there was this psyche test done where they flash a picture of a kid, or adult holding something. Half the time the person was white and the other half he was black, and half the time he held a gun and the other half something harmless which I forgot what it was. Apparently the majority of people thought the black person held the gun in most of the situations. Sure no one says they're racist anymore, and no one wants to think they are, but plenty of people are. Of course they don't go out and kill, but saying that the US as a nation isn't racist is stretching it. It's just been swept under the rug using P.C. terms.

telstar, nobody's claiming repression and death-dealing were invented by the Nazis. jb pointed out that it's strange that people the Nazis considered Untermenschen would choose the Nazis as role models. If you get your kicks out of fighting straw men, fine, but don't make us watch.

Uh. Passive? WTF? That's racism? What a stoooooo-oopid test. I bet the same percentage of Black people would've tested the same way.
As far as how you described it every single human on the planet is "racist" in that we by nature gravitate to people that look like us and tend to fear people who do not. Big deal.
Does the term even mean anything anymore? Or is it really another way of simply saying "white men are bad".

Yeah, I saw some test, where like, some people, I forget who, were holding some stuff, and you had to like, say which was good or bad, or something, and apparently, I don't remember, it turned out that most people said that something or other was evil, which means you're all racists. I can't be bothered to look it up, but I'm clearly right.
