I have no idea how these people got their cats in their sinks, or why.
That said, for as long as mankind has kept domesticated felines in his household, and everywhere that cats share living space with humans, people have asked, "Why is my cat weird?"
No answer is forthcoming.

The only time my cat was in the sink was against his will, after he put his tail in the burner of the stove. Scary moment, but he didn't even realize his tail was on fire. He was very confused. "Why are they freaking out and throwing me under the faucet?!" Dumbass cat.

We all know that anything involving people taking pictures of their cats will get its own website (look! Stuff on my cat! Look, it's in a hat! Look, my cat eats pancakes and also its own shit!) but why don't you let that be a surprise for people who randomly google cats+sinks?

I remember in 1995 as I started building wesites that my workdays were filled with a sense of pride - I was helping build a new frontier. I felt the Internet would be a free and open forum were the common man could come to cut through the vest swamp of big media and it's barriers to entry. The Internet would give voice to the masses. A new age of freedom was upon us.
Now, ten years later, I can see it's become even grander than I could have hoped. Thank you catsinsinks.com. You give hope to all.

A while back some friends of mine kinda inherited a cat that obviously wasnt happy with just hanging round the house of its 'official' owner and one night after too many alcoholic beverages (me & me mates, not the cat) it got locked in the house overnight (no catflap or nuffink). Somone got up in the morning to find the kitty squatting over the toilet to take a piss. Now, not only did we find it impressive in terms of dexterity and stuff but also its understanding where is should and should not relieve itself (bearing in mind that this wasnt the cat's normal house and hadn't be trained to do this).
Anyway, to cut a long story short, where's the catssquattingoverthetoilet.com website? Cats in sinks is but childs play.

Cat pics bring out my sappy side. I love 'em.
My own cat has a weird thing about wanting to come into the shower THE VERY MINUTE I turn the water off. Then she just sits there on the wet floor. And she's a Persian, so all that humidity turns her into an afro on feet for awhile. I don't understand what she gets out of this.

One of ours does that. Then she jumps out and walks around flicking her feet in a very irritated manner, like she's really pissed that there was water in there, even though she's done this several times a week for the better part of a year and should know exactly what to expect.

Awww, too cute. Aknacon, our cat does that, too. We had a drip in the bathroom sink a while ago, and Tweak found it and made it her personal water fountain. She now refuses to drink from her water bowl, and goes in the bathroom and demands we restore her drip.

My little black cat is growing increasingly aquaphilic. First she started coming in after my shower so she could lick my legs dry. (Hey, that little rough tongue means I don't have to shave them, either.) Thenshe started parking herself on the edge of the tub duing my shower. Finally, just this morning, she parked herself in the bathroom sink while waiting for me to get in the shower, then sat on the edge of the tub as usual during my shower.
She gets really pissed if you actually put her in the bathtub, though. But I bet that if I let her take it at her own pace, she'll be snorkelling by January.

Squish is very daring. When I'm taking a bath, he'll hop up and perch on my knee. I have to hold very still, lest I lose a nut (cat + bathwater + naked = bad beyond description). He doesn't like sinks much, but what do you expect, he grep up in a boot.

Some cats must love the humidity of a just-used shower stall. Our Siamese-Himalayan mix always makes a beeline for the shower after my wife or I get out of it. Then she just hangs out in there for 15 minutes or so. Occasionally she laps a little water, but mostly she just seems to like sitting there in the still-slightly-steamy air. Weird.

My Badcat (he deserves the name) has always had a thing about the toilet flush. He seems to be getting better with age, but used to be very embarassing - he'd sit outside the bathroom door when I was in there - howling - and run in as soon as the door was opened to stick his paws up on the bowl and watch the last of the flush. He'd do it to visitors sometimes too.
His litter-mate Goku has been at the Vet all day getting a mysterious 3 inch gash stitched up, and is now home safe on my lap, so I can finally check out the link without sniffling.

My cats think the whole toilet flushing ritual is pretty strange, too.
Most of my cats use it as time to trap you into giving them petting attention, except the kitten. He wants to get up close and see what's happening when you flush.
I think he's jealous and just wants to be part of eveything that comes in, or goes out of this household.

And this morning the damn cat interrupted my husband's shave by jumping up to the sink after he filled it with water and wobbling on the edge as he started to shave. But after he rinsed his razor in the sink a couple of times, she started lapping up the water. His scolding was enough to wake me up (well, the scolding and the way he stalked back to bed and dropped a damp and pissed cat on my chest).
