Hurricane Tracker A god-like view of current hurricane activity.
I always think of tubgirl or goatse whenever I see a page like that, But really, I get flashback to those whenever the page refreshes anywhere. It's part of the scar tissue on my brain from those images. stuff like this (mouse over, NSFW, you've been warned.)

2005 hurricane season. Timelapse move from NASA. Unbelieveably cool.
You can even see the surface water temps cool down as the hurricane passes by and converts the energy into wind. And its easy to see how hurricanes form with all the swirling wind patterns.

An awesome post, with no reason to go to Meta, nor any bad snarky comments, yet still ruined in 3 posts. Gaaaaaaaaaaaarghh!

Look, I hate to derail, but "You've been warned" and NSFW just do not suffice.
Semi-ontopic: I haven't seen that many animated GIFs since Geocities, circa 1999. At least these are, you know, semi-useful. I say semi because, honestly, the people who are in a position to be affected directly by the hurricane probably already know well enough that they're in its path or potential path. It is nice that the images all link to their sources, though.
It looks cool, anyway. Be nice projected up on a set of NASA-control-room-style big screens.

This is really wicked. One of these days I'm going to build that 8 head box, the top feeds from this would be cool to display on that machine.

It's interesting--is the gulf stream shearing it or propelling it?
