The Laurentian Library

Under Foot and Between the Boards in the Laurential Library "Within the Laurentian Library, the enigmatic masterwork of Michelangelo, there exists a complex geometric pavement that is hidden from view, little known about and shrouded with mystery...Why had an immensely complicated pavement been constructed, only to be covered over?"
Looks like a Lament Configuration to me.

That's a fascinating essay, obviously pre-2000. I wonder if there are entreaties currently moving through the bureaucracies advocating clearing of the room (again) for further study of the floor panels? Great and puzzling post thanks dhruva.

After the noise (and fun) of Caps Lock day and the shrillness and hostility and nit picking and nastiness in Amerikafilter and ensuing metas this is like a breath of fresh air.
What a wonderful mystery. Why the cover up? It reminds me of The Name of the Rose.
Maybe the Sacred Geometry was considered heretical and profane.
Good and interesting post dhruva; thank you.
