"My name is Sean Kennedy, and I am The Fucking Man."

Sean Kennedy, Internet media personality and outspoken anti-"Corpolitical" survivalist, made a name for himself with his short rants on topics from suicide (mp3, nsfw) to body armor (mp3) to internet porn (mp3, nsfw). He has authored two books, created a post-apocalyptic/cyberpunk audio series, does a daily news podcast and has even had his very own KULT.
You know, I am mostly sympathetic to Kennedy's views, but he still annoys the shit out of me. Why is that?
This guy sounds reasonably intelligent, but I'd suggest to him that he listen to some old Bill Hicks tapes. There's a subtle art to the rant that can getting to your point funny, biting and even poignant without sounding like a shrill, humorless, self-inflated jackass.

So I downloaded a couple of this guy's rants. I get better arguments at closing time at the bar. Weak. Cult of post-apocalyptic/cybercelebrity. If this is what it takes to "make a name for himself" then we are in shallow, shallow water.
I don't disagree with the embedded arguments in the rants I listened to, but I just think that they are horribly framed, ill thought out and Kennedy substitutes volume for reason.

FWIW, I agree. His manner leaves a hell of a lot to be desired -- hence why I often find his stuff to be an interesting core wrapped in a hilarious amount of weird, loud, crazy rambling.
But it's interesting in short bits. Plus, I am a bit of a fan of his "Patrolling" series, which combines his ranting style with wilderness survival and lifestyle hints. Some of his opinions about choosing gear make good sense, whether you're preparing for the apocalypse or just going camping.

he WANTS to have something to say . . . REALLY really bad, bad enough to keep spitting out expletives until he can figure out how to get OUT of the hyperactive high school monologue mode.

I've never heard the term "anti-Corpolitical," but it suggests to me someone who's put a modicum of thought into their views. This guy sounds like a junior member of any moderately sized American top 40 morning crew/zoo. Sean, if can't astound us with your insight you need to at least bring the funny.
question: What percentage of offices in America have at least one ranter?

Oh christ. I'm so sick of hearing about Bill Hicks. Bill Hicks wasn't even Bill Hicks.

Stenseng, than you. I couldn't agree more. Although this guy isn't even the Bill Hicks Bill Hicks was.
What?
