Fantastic idea and insanely competitive as you see your opponents rise up the table in real time.

Very similar to "Guess-the-Google" - same idea, but the images were pulled from Google's Image Search.

what this lacks is a chat window where you can type "woooo I got 4th place!!!" after every round.

I played this last night and it was great. Only complaint is what raedyn alluded to, its tag randomization isn't that great.

I won a round too! The fact that the some image sets kept repeating definitely helped.

Excellent. Just the right combination of everything. My only complaint is that it's irritating to wait after you've guessed correctly, but I realize the live scores depend on that…

It's a little buggy tho. I got the same question twice on the next game and then it didn't record my score for the second one.

This is so broken sometimes. I was neck and neck with this guy until a repeat tag came up...he got 20 points for it, I got 0. Very frustrating to see someone with 49 points on the third round, you know?

Seems intermittent. Sometimes it turns blue when you type the correct word, other times it doesn't and you keep typing new words when you've already guessed correctly. What gives?

I won without looking at a single image!
(It's hackable)
Someone else figured this out and played a few perfect scoring games with the name "YouAllSuck". I named myself as follows and YAS dropped out after a few rounds of my name showing up on top next to his or hers.
I'm off now, and the cheater has gone away. So go ahead kids, it's safe to play for now.

Hooray! I saw this on Projects yesterday and had fun, but somewhat diminished because nobody else was there. Just now I played and there were like a hundred other people. Came in fourth, good enough ...

This is similar to Peekaboom which is also a TON of fun. Sadly, it's java which I haven't bothered to get to work on my new system yet, so I only get to play it when I think of it on other computers ...

Also, regarding complaints about bugs, they're definitely improving it ... it looked different today than even just yesterday (e.g. highlighting of my name in the list). Also, I haven't seen it repeat image sequences (words) like it did a lot yesterday.

The hackers have gotten out of hand. 3 or 4 buttheads with scores of 1348973 and so on. Then a new jackass set things up so that once he guessed the word, he'd use it as a new name with the score 1337.
Bah.

Doesn't seem to like Opera much, played fine but wouldn't show my results over on the left. It would show my results with Firefox, but sometimes would hang at the end of the round, when everyone else had clearly gone on to the next round by their scores. Wouldn't even load in Explorer. Crap browsers. Gonna try it on my fucking Treo next.

I also can't figure out the scoring system. Can someone please explain why I pop on the board immediately after answering correclty and then disappear while people with scores lower than mine still show up?

Yeah, a little buggy. But fun when it's working right. Right now it seems to be suck in a loop from 37-34 seconds, and then back to 37. I wondered why my score wasn't showing up, but that probably explains it.

I can. The scores refresh every 4 seconds (because constant refreshing would be too slow). In any 4 second interval, other people have scored, so their scores change when it refreshes. Also, you won't always pop on the board immediately; sometimes there will be up to a 3.99~ second lapse between when you score and when it goes on the board.
(And sometimes there's a bug I haven't fixed yet and it won't count at all. And sometimes the server will crash. But other than those issues, that's how it works.)

Scottreynen,
I posted the pic above noting that I had hacked the game. I didn't know the creator of the site was here in the thread, but I'm glad you are so I can give you props for the concept and the execution. I looked over your code, of course, to be able to grab the answer in advance. Nice programming and a great game!
