Good Dog AIBO.
Arf, Arf, he goes, a merry sight
Our little hairy friend
Arf, Arf, upon the lampost bright
Arfing round the bend.
Nice dog! Goo boy,
Waggie tail and beg, Clever AIBO, jump for joy,
Because we are putting you to sleep at three of the clock, AIBO.
with apologies to john lennon (thanks
piratebowling )

So, robots are our past not our future? Sony nipped the rise of the robot overlords in the bud, I guess.

If you look at how ugly the latest version is - it's no surprise they dropped it

This isn't true. Not at all. They're sending AIBO to a nice farm. It's for his own good. You hardly play with him anymore since you got your Xbox 360 and he's been scratching the baseboards in Mommy's new living room! They're sending him there while you're at school so say goodbye to him now.
Sure we can go visit him. In a few months. Sure.

You're welcome, three blind mice.
I feel so proud.

It would be incredibly short-sighted of Sony to stop all of their robot development.
The stuff Honda is doing with their Asimo is pretty incredible. I'm firmly convinced that robots are the new PCs.

QRIO was also scrapped, along with the Walkman manufacturing division in Saitama.

Sony can't teach an old dog new tricks.
I hope the next thing they throw away is the people responsible for the Rootkits fiasco.

Wow. Apparently that DRM whoopsie was more expensive than they'd predicted.

Robot Pets Almost as Good as Real Ones
Well, that marketing grant was wasted...

A Spaniel in the Works? Many bonus points, three blind mice, for excellent use of one of my favorite good old John Lennon poems.
I'm not a big fan of most dogs, but then again I’ve never met a robotic dog that barks (and barks and barks) outside, for no apparent reason, while I'm trying to sleep.
