Buy an ad, and Aric posts a funny photo of himself and your product. Another entry in the "million dollar homepage" series of viral-advertising-as-content sites. [via mefi projects]

My product is a little crazy robot that moves fast and bites and stings when photographed.

My product is Keith David.

Who decided the photos were funny? They were boring and flat in my opinion. Execution may be his execution.

My Adblock extension prevented any of the ads or pictures from showing up; I had to manually disable it to see anything.

I am now going to send the Adblock developers my sincere thanks.

I sent an email asking if I could have him take a picture with my collection of atmospherically exposed Ebola and Hanta virus cultures.

No response yet...

This is weak. Really weak. As an idea, it's not entirely bad, but it does rather rely on the pictures being funny. Which they aren't, by any stretch of the imagination.

slater said 'i thought part of the reason why mefi projects existed was that those projects WOULDN'T be posted on the pepsi blue mefi blue?'

So did I, but the 'post this project to MeFi' button on project pages suggests otherwise.

The pojects page is so that a mefioso can show off his pet project and if other mefiosos reckons it good, they post it to the blue. brownpau used it exactly as it says on the tin then.

Well, I thought it was a nice idea.

In an "Eric Conveys an Emotion" kind of way.

The idea has merit. The execution...not so much.

I hate that this appeared on MeFi.

This is pretty pointless. The only value (albeit marginal) of buying advertising on the million dollar home page was the link to your site from a site that ended up developing a lot of page rank. The way this site is configured, there is no direct link to the advertiser's site, therefore no value unless people actually clicked through and bought stuff. Not likely.

Zzzz. This is stupid.

in happier news, I think he's sort of cute.

but, yes, photos are unfunny.

Great, thanks for perpetuating this stupid 'ad genre'.

'preciate it.
