Flickr: The Musical (Google video). Random lyrics inspired by random images fom Flickr. A wonderful & worthy effort by Jonathan Coulton, subject of this previous Mefi post.
Awesome. I particularly loved the revelation about eyepatches.

Do yourselves a favor and pick up "Where Tradition Meets Tomorrow". The Future Soon alone is worth the price of admission.
Oh, and check out the now-defunct Little Gray Books Podcast hosted by Jonathan Coulton and John Hodgman. What few shows they've done are great.

Also, Coulton plays guitar while John Hodgeman reads 700 hobo names. I think this feat was previously discussed.

Coulton's recording of SirMixAlot's Baby Got Back is a staple track in my Hot Hit Collection 2005.

I figured this had been on here before, but either way, I'm in the aluminum foil robot part picture wearing the turqouise... and I used to live mere blocks from the concrete teddy bear giving head to that dude...

Baby_Balrog, I knew i recognised the chord sequence between the photo of the old candle dude and the photo of the baby: i was expecting JC to launch into his country version of Baby Got Back. Im now going to have to play that track.

Am I missing something? Random photos sung about in a style reminiscent of James Taylor just don't do it for me. Although I will allow that there were about five funny seconds towards the end.

If you haven't heard Skullcrusher Mountain (mp3), you're really missing a treat. Jonathan Coulton is a freaking genius, full stop. And his support of the Creative Commons just makes it exponentially more awesome.

I'm not so sure crunchland. I've listened to a couple more of his songs with as open a mind as a I can muster. And he can sing, he can make music and there's a sort of amusing whimsy to what he does. But try as I might....well let's just say I'll have to remain the contrarian in this thread.
However if anyone can explain to me why he's a genius or great or why they love him (rather than simply stating that they do) I'm prepared to give it another go.

lol rhymer, please listen to Podsafe Christmas Song and rethink your opinion...Kidding aside, the music's fun, pleasantly witty in a mod pop kinda way, he's got a good voice and plays nice acoustic guitar. Something like Christopher Cross meets Simon and Garfunkle for the iPod crowd. The lyrics are playfully articulate about unexpected subjects, like Mandelbrot Set, Ikea, I Hate California or Devolving. I find it likeable. :)
