Oxfordshire church photos. For all your Oxfordshire church photo needs.
Nice. I wish there was one for Warwickshire. After visiting Warwick Castle my wife and I took a little detour and visited Collegiate Church of St Mary, Warwick. A very pleasant older gent, a volunteer, gave us a free tour. I remember more about that church than I do about Warwick Castle!
Churches in Texas are very, very different. Not that I attend, mind you.

Or further south, climb the steeple of St Mary's in Rye, one of the Cinque Ports.
The volunteer on the door here is a veritable encylopaedia of local WW2 stories which he valiently attempted to deliver in most of the languages we speak. Brave man!
English country churches are truly treasures

The lack of dates, architectural notes, &c. is a bit of a shame.

*sighs*
Leaving Oxford was possibly the worst mistake I ever made. I miss it every single day.
Great post. Thanks.

This is incredibly thorough... My dad's village church is there (Hampton Poyle). There are many beautiful small villages around Oxfordshire, all with quaint little churches (and, even better, pubs that are just about as old) unfortunately, you need a bazillion pounds to be able to afford a house in one of them.
Thanks for the link, even though its made me a quite homesick.

sindark: is that one still invariably about ten minutes fast or slow? When I lived there it drove me totally up the wall.

One of my favourites, St Oswalds, all that's left of the abandoned village of Widford. One of my favourite winter walks and this captures the atmosphere quite nicely.

@bwerdmuller,
It's certainly a nice place to live. I am glad that I am going to be here over the summer. Just seeing trees with leaves on them is a bit of a shock for those of us who have only been here since September.

@edd,
I think it's about two minutes fast - compared to the highly accurate clock in my GPS receiver, at least.

It wouldn't surprise me if many Oxfordshire church tower clocks still kept local time. Oxfordshire is that kind of county...
